Our Commitment to The Borderplex

At WestStar, being a responsible corporate citizen means giving back to the community. We are deeply committed to positively impacting the lives of those around us through our philanthropic efforts. In 2023, we donated more than $500,000 to 88 deserving organizations, and we are proud to have contributed to many outstanding nonprofits and charitable causes in the Borderplex.

Our mission to support the community is an integral part of who we are at WestStar, and we will continue to strive to make a difference in the lives of those around us.

Giving Back

Team members all across WestStar give of their time, talent, and treasure to the community by serving on over 60 boards and committees and participating in numerous community development efforts and philanthropic causes.

Specifically, our branch team members form a group known as BRAVO (BRanch Activity Volunteer Opportunities). They give their time to multiple organizations every year in support of many great causes.

Financial Literacy

WestStar is committed to promoting financial literacy in the community. As part of this effort, the bank regularly participates in community events that focus on educating people about financial matters.

In addition, WestStar's Financial Education Center provides free modules for individuals to learn about personal finance and make the best financial decisions possible.

Jeans Day

Two Fridays a month, team members wear jeans for a $5 donation to an associated charitable organization. All donations are matched dollar for-dollar by WestStar. In 2023, our team members and WestStar collectively contributed more than $50,000!

We are proud of our team members’ commitment to giving back to organizations that make our community stronger and better.

United Way Employee Campaign

We recently held our annual United Way giving campaign; collectively, our team members and WestStar committed to contributing $153,000 for 2024, including 63 leadership givers - the most of any company in El Paso. We were honored to receive the Arco De Platino Award for our contributions to the 2023 campaign.

In addition to our contributions, many WestStar team members volunteered their time last year to United Way, including Cindy Conroy, Director of Community Outreach, who served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the United Way of El Paso County. We also teamed up with the United Way of Southwest New Mexico to
create shoe boxes filled with crucial items for those without housing.

Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
